Good heavens!...

Meta -

Here's the situation: I'm waiting in line at the ticket counter at the airport. The man in front of me is in a wheelchair and is asking to be re-assigned for an aisle seat to accomodate his needs. The woman is very friendly and is willing to help. But then she tells him..."Go ahead and take a seat while I work on this for a little bit". Seriously? I'm pretty sure he got it covered. I could only shake my head...

Stick a fork in it.

Meta -

The 2009 Prepaid Card Expo has come to an end. It's done, been tied up, worked out, wound up, wrapped up, and baked. And looking back on the past few days, we know that Meta has accomplished so much. It was another success for our company!

And yet, there's so much more for us to do. So we press on. All the hard work of capitalizing on the momentum of the event and pushing ahead with new opportunities is ahead for all of us. The expo was a great opportunity to once again solidify and build upon what we do day in and day out. We will maximize our successes. And we know we can always so better, so we'll also seek to refine our areas of opportunity to make Meta better.

Question: What does a vision, a strong brand and a mouse have to do with Meta?

Meta -

Answer: This evening after everything with the show wrapped up and things quieted down, I found enough time to get over to Downtown Disney to hit the retail shops and hopefully score some points with the family.

I was all too quickly reminded just how powerful the Mouse continues to be after all these years! And it all started with one man's vision and his dream in a swamp in the middle of nowhere. With consistent branding efforts and a compelling, emotional story, along with unique experience opportunities and an insane amount of ridiculously overpriced licensed products, an empire has been created. You would be hard pressed to find anyone anywhere who needs any further explanation after simply saying the word "Disney".

So what does it all have to do with Meta? Nothing directly, really (sorry, that may have been a spoiler right out of the gates). And I'll have to confirm with Ron Butterfield, but I'm fairly certain that we're not opening any amusement parks anytime soon. But here's what we do have going for us - and it's a heck of a lot. We do have a clear, collective vision for Meta. Our company has a unified message - a story of "bringing money to LIFE". We are in the process of defining and building a strong, lasting brand. And our products and programs share in the success of other's life experiences. And we tie it all together through relationships. It's an organization we can all be proud to be a part of. And it's a great time to be at Meta!

Good morning Meta!

Yesterday proved once again to be a great day for Meta. Today is already well under way and plenty more to accomplish. Meta employees will continue to present to the industry and further our message of how we are always seeking way to be "bringing money to LIFE".

I've heard from several of you that you were fortunate to find a silver ticket in your Meta Bars. If that's you - congrats! Those who didn't, sorry - but we still hope you enjoy the video and the blog. Brad Hanson - Industry Achievement Award Recipient!


Great news from the expo! Brad Hanson was awarded the 2009 Paybefore Industry Achievement Award this morning! This is a unique, individual award given to someone in the payment industry who demonstrated leadership and excellence in the worldwide prepaid card industry. Those nominated for the award were done so by their colleagues. It's a fantastic award for Brad and some incredible words spoken by his colleagues. So be sure to take it up top and give Brad some knuckle bumps and healthy "congrats" when he gets back to Sioux Falls.

Rise & Shine

Good morning Meta!

Once again Florida pulls through this morning with warm weather and no snow (I hear Sioux Falls has been less fortunate). I took advanatge of it and greeted the day with a morning jog. Now it's time for me to get ready, grab a cup of java and head for the expo.

Today is going to be another big day for Meta! In just a couple of hours we'll learn if Brad Hanson wins the Industry Achievement award he has been nominated for. Good luck Brad! It's been so rewarding to hear Brad's industry colleagues speak so admirably about him.

And later today our Credit team (iAdvance) is hosting a private event for key partners. Another great way for us to extend our appreciation to partners and build lasting relationships.

And of course throughout the day we'll get to interact with everyone at the Meta Bank Movies booth. It's been a huge hit at the show. Michelle Gardner lights up the booth! I think she's become friends with everyone here already! surprise.

Finally, speaking of friends and on a personal note, I stumbled upon a childhood family friend attending the expo. I had not seen him in over 10 years and this of course was the last place I expected to run into him. In the spirit of Orlando and Walt Disney, it is a small world afterall.

One down, two to go.


The expo is in full gear and the energy here is fantastic! Jason Brooks, Mick Conlin and John Hagy all had an opportunity to speak to industry colleagues today. Meta is definitely proving to be leaders in the industry and seeking to help other succeed.

At the end of the day the expo hall opened up and Meta was once again able to showcase our exhibit space and further our messaging of how we continue to be innovative and lead the evolution in prepaid.

Tomorrow expects to be another full day and after an early start for me and plenty ahead tomorrow I'm looking to call it a night sooner than later.
